About us
For 25 years now, the
Hamburg School of Shipping and Transportation
offers furthering education in the field of shipping and
tourism in close cooperation with renowned institutions and experts
and is recognized by the ICS.
The HST portfolio has been completed by the HST Academy since January 2010. Two bachelor degree programs are offered here so far.
The Bachelor of Shipping, Trade and Transport (BSc) degree program has been available since January 2010. Already mentioned in the same year in the study “Maritime Qualification Competencies at the Hamburg Location” as a unique academic degree for the field of Maritime Economics.
The program was expanded in January 2011 to include the Bachelor of International Travel Tourism Management (BA).
Highly qualified professors and lecturers from Germany and abroad offer a portfolio of topics in a part-time course of study that prepares students for the demands of a globally interconnected working world in a way that is specific to their profession.
Our two degree programs begin in January and June of each year. You can apply to study with us at any time.
The goal of the courses we offer is to expand the development opportunities of young professionals in the transportation and tourism industry and to strengthen dual education.
Our degrees are internationally recognized and awarded by our cooperation partner London Metropolitan University. They are based on a dual apprenticeship and ideally combine academic skills with professional expertise and experience.
- Learning and working are closely intertwined at our company. You can obtain an academic degree within one year by crediting the dual apprenticeship.
- During this short period of study, you remain financially independent and do not lose touch with professional reality, as our degree programs are offered on a part-time basis.
- Our concept links three important pillars of professional success: dual training, professional practice and study.
- You combine theoretical knowledge with the multitude of practice-oriented qualifications from your profession already during your studies and make yourself attractive for the job market.
- Your employer will also benefit from your bachelor's degree. Already during your studies you can apply newly learned methodological and analytical skills in the workplace and possibly link a business-relevant issue to your bachelor's thesis
- You will study in small groups of no more than 25 students with direct contact with the lecturer. Personal attention from our professors and lecturers is absolutely paramount. You will always receive competent support for homework and exam preparation.
- The practical and scientific relevance of the program is ensured by a portfolio of lecturers consisting of professors from German and foreign universities as well as qualified executives from renowned companies in both industries.
- You will gain an internationally recognized academic degree from London Metropolitan University, which was last recognized in (2022) for its academic excellence by the national Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
- The HST Academy is audited at least twice a year by representatives of London Metropolitan University for compliance with these standards. Professors, lecturers and students also participate in these audits to ensure the highest level of transparency.
- Our bachelor degree programs are Bologna-recognized degree programs.
Study hybrid or online
Our degree programs were accredited for hybrid study as sychronous e-learning by London Metropolitan University on December 9, 2022. Since January 2023, our students can also study synchronously online with us.
